Celebration Days
DAY 10 - 12
August, 22nd - 24th
August, 22nd - 24th
This week actually I was
supposed to start on my assisting task but since Mrs. Postrano only gave the
students quizzes 3 days in a row, first 2 days were quizzes about poetic
devices and on Friday is a pre test since they began the next lesson that is
Greek Mythology.
Those three days I sat in
the back continuing my observation and started working on my lesson plan for
the next week because it is my turn to teach and she gave me Literary Types to
study since it is the lesson I’m gonna teach.
On Thursday, they celebrated
the Mass to the Holy Spirits from 7.15 a.m to 9.20 a.m. Mrs. Postrano said the
school has the celebration every beginning of Academic Year in August which
also will be continued on August, 31st along with the celebration Buwan
ng Wika, the celebration of Tagalog culture.
In the Mass to the Holy
Spirits celebration, there were some students who brought foods and money and
they gave it to the priest to be then given to the community who are in need
like victims of landslide and fire.
After the priest did the
sermon, some students did performance and which took the first two periods. So
whenever they have the Mass of Holy Spirits, they will only have 6 periods
instead of 8 and it depends on how long the priest did the sermon usually it ends
at 9.40 then they have recess.
DAY 13 - 21
There was no school on Monday due to the national hero day. And this week was filled with some preparations for Buwan ng Wika which would be held on Friday. The last period on Thursday, Aug 30th was used for the last preparation. They had to decorate their classrooms and hallway and I also did some help at 10BMHS.
On Friday, there was no class since it’s Buwan ng Wika, the celebration of Tagalog culture. All the students and teacher had to wear their traditional customs. Grade 10 had the celebration in Rudolf Rahmann Cultural Center since they are the highest grade. They had some games like filling the Tagalog song lyrics, chained message and so on. They also performed dance and singing. Then, they had a feast in their own classrooms. They put a big table in front of each class in the hallway and ate together. It was a very fun experience and I enjoyed every second that I spent with them laughing, talking, eating and just getting to know each other.
DAY 26 - 28
September 7th – 9th
On the next day we were invited to the cultural day for the college students only. We did the presentation about Indonesia then there were also a student from South Korea and the local students who did the presentation abut their cultures. Then after that we tried many local foods that we had not come across before that. It was very interesting to learn other cultures and so far this experience had taught me a lot of things about to live in a different culture and how to place your self in it. that day was the last day of our practicum period and the next day we left to Indonesia. This place hold so many memories and i will always remember this school, city and the people wherever i am. Thank you for everything. <3 XOXO
DAY 13 - 21
Aug 25th - September 2nd
On the third week I did some assisting jobs like grading the students quiz because my mentor wanted me to do something and also I started to help out students in the classroom instead of sitting in the back just like what I usually did.
This week’s lesson is about Greek Mythology and Greek Deities. So far the textbook had not been used and this lesson based on the novel Greek Mythology and materials from the presentation, so basically their main source of study is the teacher’s explanation from the presentation. They have to take notes because based on those notes they will be given test and quiz.
